Power of Attorney: Definition
A Power of Attorney is a written authorization that gives another person the power to act on your behalf. It allows you to appoint a person you trust to handle your financial and legal decisions if you can not do so. A Power of Attorney can be used for a variety of purposes, such as managing finances or conducting business transactions. It is important to have a Power of Attorney in place so that your financial affairs can be taken care of in a way that you would want, even if you are not able to do so yourself. You can place restrictions on your Attorney if you wish.
