Azool Jaffer-Jeraj
Azool Jaffer-Jeraj is a partner at DJJ Law, a Vancouver law firm, with over 20 years of experience at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He focuses his practice on Wills, Estates and Family Law.
Azool received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Victoria.
Azool regularly gives back to the community and has been an active member of the legal profession having previously served as President of the Trial Lawyer’s Association of British Columbia and as the President of the Vancouver French Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a member of the Ismaili National Conciliation and Arbitration Board where he volunteers his time as a mediator and trains mediators globally. His voluntary service was acknowledged when he was recently awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal.

Mobina S.B Jaffer, K.C.
The Honorable Mobina Jaffer has been a partner at DJJ Law since 1978and also represented BC in the Senate of Canada for 24 years. An accomplished lawyer, Jafferwas the first South Asian woman to practice law in British Columbia. Shewas appointed King’s Counsel in 1998and appointed to the Senate of Canada on June 13, 2001.She is the first Muslim senator, the first African-born senator, and the first senator of South Asian descent. Women and children’s rights are central to Jaffer’s advocacy and her contributions to the community earned her a place in Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2003 and 2004 by Women’s Executive Network. She served as Canada’s Special Envoy for Peace in Sudan from 2002 to 2006. From 2002 to 2005, she chaired the Canadian Committee on Women, Peace, and Security. Jaffer is often invited to speak at international conferences on security issues and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, which “urges all actors to increase the participation of women and incorporate gender perspectives in all United Nations peace and security efforts” and “calls on all parties of conflict to take special measures to protect women and girls from gender-based violence, particularly rape and other forms of sexual abuse, in situations of armed conflict.” As a grandmother, women’s rights and children’s rights are central to her advocacy.Jaffer earned a Bachelor of Laws from London University in London, England. She has also completed the Executive Development program at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.In 2003, she received an Honorary Doctorate from the Open Learning University.
